Henry-- I  just finish 4 days at the Texas GOP Convention in Houston. My impression of the Texas GOP is that the party is "out of touch." As in "OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY." Typical Bush style of arrogance and hubris. Those rich and arrogant Texas GOP people told 40% of the convention (the Ron Paul people) to get lost, because the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan must rage forever and ever and ever.

The GOP losses of 2006 were not enough of a wake-up call. I doubt the GOP losses of 2008 will be enough either.

They think they can "swift-boat" Barack Obama. Let me give you an example. (What is the difference between Obama and Osama? Just B.S.) Instead they have swift-boated their own GOP "creative class" which were the Ron Paul people. The creative class is an online class; it's YouTube, its MySpace, it's music. And no one has caught fire with this creative class like Ron Paul and Barack Obama. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2008/06/14/baobama114.xml

The Texas GOP can't raise any money just like the national GOP can't raise any money.

MONEY BOMB? WHAT'S A MONEY BOMB?

WASHINGTON - House rank and file Republicans are tens of millions of dollars short of meeting fund raising targets set by their own campaign committee in advance of this fall's elections, according to figures circulating among the leadership, heightening concerns inside the party about major losses in November.

Most recent figures show that GOP lawmakers have brought $27 million into the coffers of the National Republican Congressional Committee in the past 17 months, far short of the target of about $58 million. Compounding the challenge, they will soon be asked to raise another $20 million or more to help candidates in selected battleground districts.
