"Dr. Simone Gold, a Beverly Hills woman known for spreading debunked claims about Covid-19 was sentenced on Thursday to 60 days in prison for illegally entering and remaining in the US Capitol during the January 6 insurrection.
Gold, founder of the group America's Frontline Doctors, was also ordered to pay a $9,500 fine -- the largest fine imposed to date among the almost 200 rioters who have been sentenced.
A
statement released Thursday on America's Frontline Doctors website
claimed Gold's initial arrest and the government's investigation of the
incident violated her rights.
"Dr. Gold remains committed to her activism for physicians' free speech," the statement said. "Our Constitutional rights have been chipped away. The First Amendment has been annihilated.
"Before
2020, we could have never imagined the government of our democracy
stripping away our rights as it has. We have watched the Orwellian scene
unfold before our eyes.
"A concerted effort has been undertaken to 'cancel' physicians who do not follow the mainstream narrative."
"Your
organization is leaving people with the misimpression that this is a
political prosecution or that it's about free speech," Cooper said
Thursday, according to CNN.
"It
ain't about free speech. Jan. 6 was about a lot of things, but it
wasn't about free speech or COVID vaccinations. ... The only reason you

Texas and Arizona, two border states with Republican-headed governments, have carried out operations in which they sent 79 buses filled with illegal aliens to Washington, D.C.
Officials from the two states told the Washington Examiner that over 2,500 migrants who illegally crossed into the United States and were subsequently let go by Border Patrol were placed on state-provided buses and sent to the doorstep of Joe Biden and Congress.
"These people are wanting to go somewhere else. They're not wanting to stay in Arizona," Morgan Carr, a spokeswoman for Arizona Governor Doug Ducey told the Examiner. "From what we're seeing, they're all primarily [headed to] the East Coast."
Since Governor Greg Abbot of Texas began his state's initiative in mid April, the Lone Star State has sent over 2,000 people aboard 65 buses to D.C.
