Obama: 139 Executive Orders in 40 Months

WHY IS "CHANGE" USUALLY FOR THE WORSE?

Together with his predecessors, Obama has created
the legal framework for a police state.
Of course, Romney is ignoring this potent issue.

On September 24, a Wall Street Journal editorial warned that President Obama is moving to control the Internet by executive order. "Any day now, the White House will issue an executive order on cyber security, according to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano who said last week that the measure 'is close to completion.'"

It noted that "the White House intends to go ahead with its order in the face of vociferous opposition on Capitol Hill."

"According to leaked versions of the draft, the executive order would impose security standards for 16 critical industries" and that "private companies have innovated and invested heavily to protect themselves without regulatory prodding. What they need from the government is an information-sharing program and liability protection."

This is just one more executive order that would, along with others, impose a totalitarian control over every aspect of life in America on the pretext of a national emergency. We had a national emergency on 9/11 and no laws were abrogated, no Constitutional freedoms denied.

A Homeland Security Department study, "Hot Spots of Terrorism and Other Crimes in the United States 1970-2008", listed Americans who are "fiercely nationalistic", "suspicious of centralized federal authority" and "reverent of individual liberty" as potential terrorists.

Jeffery T. Kuhmer, writing in The Washington Times in March, noted that "On March 15, the White House released an executive order, 'National Defense Resources Preparedness.' The document is stunning in its audacity and a flagrant violation of the Constitution."

To understand how extensive this is, the Western Center for Journalism published a list of "Obama's Worst Executive Orders" asserting that some 900 Obama executive orders had been initiated when in fact Obama has signed 139.

However, added to active EOs from previous administrations, the Center is correct in its fears that he is "creating a martial law 'Disney Land' of control covering everything imaginable."

* Executive Order 10990 allows the Government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.

 * Executive Order 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media.

  * Executive Order 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels, and minerals.

 *  Executive Order 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.

 *  Executive Order 11001 allows the government to take over all health education and welfare functions.

 *  Executive Order 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons.

 *  Executive Order 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.

 *  Executive Order 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate and establish new locations for populations.

 *  Executive Order 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways, and public storage facilities.

*  Executive Order 11049 assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issues over a fifteen-year period.

 *  Executive Order 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.

 *  Executive Order 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute Industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President.

 *  Executive Order 11921 allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit, and the flow of money in U.S. financial institutions in any undefined national emergency. It also provides that when the president declares a state of emergency, Congress cannot review the action for six months.

These executive orders are a blueprint for the takeover by the government by White House fiat, by-passing Congress.

By declaring that "international tensions and economic or financial crisis" or a "national emergency" exists, it puts all powers of governance in the hands of one man, Barack Hussein Obama.

Do you want to live in such a nation?

Enough bullshit!

Why is it that no one writing here (henrymakow.com) thinks for a second or two about the legality of executive orders in the first place?

Executive orders are only lawful for things such as ordering food for the White House. That's their lawful function.

If our basic law allowed the executive branch to MAKE LAW as well as EXECUTE it, why the hell would it's creators have gone to all the trouble of setting up an elaborate set of checks and balances among the three branches of government created. Why would congress be allowed to make law if all of congress' efforts could lawfully and easily be set aside by one man's whims and a pencil?

AN EMERGENCY, REAL OR PRETENDED, IS NOT A LAWFUL REASON TO IGNORE, CANCEL OR OVERRIDE OUR BASIC LAW. THERE IS NOTHING IN THAT LAW TO ALLOW IT TO BE NULLIFIED FOR ANY REASON.

Any executive order which pretends to make law is OUTLAW and therefore NULL AND VOID. Plus the executor of it is himself an OUTLAW OF THE WORST ORDER DESERVING OF LIFETIME IMPRISONMENT IF NOT DEATH. That includes many of America's past presidents, including all of those still living.

Americans, wake the hell up, get off your asses or knees and take your country back from this OUTLAW CABAL at the top. DO IT ANY DAMNED WAY THAT WORKS! Or don't you give a damn about yourselves and your families?

Don't pass it off on the pussy congress that is supposed to represent you but only does the bidding of the insane rulers of Israel. Send them all to Israel to stay and TAKE BACK YOUR GOVERNMENT!

Here's the root of the problem. It is worth reading, IMO.

Government is run by the military mostly, and the so-called civilians are just the dummies up front. The whole thing operates on war powers.

Executive orders have been used by many Presidents in far larger numbers than your source is aware of.
Democratic Presidents such as Presidents Roosevelt and Truman used Executive Orders to promulgate civil rights policy. In 1948, President Harry Truman integrated the armed forces with Executive Order 9981. Truman an unlikely advocate for civil rights had earlier in his career observed that ”[i]f any class or race can be permanently set apart from, or pushed down below the rest in political and civil rights, so may any other class or race when it shall incur the displeasure of its more powerful associates, and we may say farewell to the principles on which we count our safety.” In 1962 President Kennedy used an Executive Order to ban discrimination in federal housing-this was two years before passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. President Kennedy established the Peace Corps by Executive Order.
Traditionally, Presidents have taken an expansive view of their power to adopt Executive Orders.

Between 1939 and 1946, President Roosevelt issued 286 Executive Orders. On his last day in Office on January 19, 1981, President Carter issued ten Executive Orders concerning the exchange of the Iran hostages for frozen Iranian assets; all ten Executive orders were upheld by the United States Supreme Court. Between 1789 and 1956 only sixteen Executive Orders were overturned. President Ford issued seven Executive Orders on his last day in office alone.
President Reagan used Executive Power to reshape the intelligence community because he faced a veto in Congress.

Your source was not thorough. Perhaps this is because he sought to advance a political agenda by any means including misleading the public. I admire your inquisitiveness, but you need to be more skeptical about these short cut summaries that are often used to promote agendas rather than advance truth
