A.J. Fozdyke: A Satanist's Eulogy to Hugh Hefner
Hail Hugh Marston Hefner!
Hugh M. Hefner was Left Hand Path. His lifetime obsession with the feminine and his antinomianism both proves this. He also understood that by divorcing sex from any meaning it loses all meaning and sex becomes an end in itself. He perfected 'the girl next door' photo shoot; with all of the just hidden, not quite stated but nonetheless profound implications and delicious temptations. He told me that when he was in the Boy Scouts he saw a naked woman through a lit (bathroom?) window and had his epiphany.
Hugh belonged to the American tradition of atheistic, hedonistic Satanism courtesy of Howard Stanton Levey. Both shared a number of common influences, Nietzsche being the foremost. But Hugh was spiritual. His personal Goddess was Naamah. It was to Her he was dedicated and made sacrifices for gifts bestowed. Not only is She great for attracting sex, She's also very materialistic when it comes to producing wealth.
Hefner was an advocate who radically changed the world, for he was quintessentially a man of the world, representing the God of this world. Where there was sexual misery, Playboy sought freedom and physical happiness, the real liberation of women and the re-education men. And although it's often forgotten, H.M.H was a very early and unshakable proponent of the legalization of marijuana. He also constantly and subtly championed heterosexual sodomy.
The Playboy empire manipulated by titillation the energy imprint of low-consciousness mind-patterns, thereby altering the fabric of commonplace reality. While he was still Howard and into the second year of his cohabitation with High Priestess - Diane Hegarty - Levey heavily influenced what became publishing history as The Playboy Philosophy. These were talks by telephone. He said that at the time Levey was heavily influenced by the teachings of Jack Parsons - as he then was. The Central Intelligence Agency also had their influence in that philosophy, or so I'm told.
Hugh Hefner turned sex on its head and into an internationally recognized brand that merchandised profitable if largely self-perpetuated and unfulfilled dreams. He was a promiscuous hero who walked amongst us and eminently replaceable. He was not a member of the Alpha Lodge, although some of his associates were.
