Report from Inside an Ontario Nursing Home

"This corona thing is a fucking joke.  They need to end the shutdowns as soon as possible because this is a waste of time and money."

Just to give you an update, we have had an outbreak of coronavirus at the nursing home where I work for almost 3 weeks now.  Nobody is dead, nobody is even hospitalized.  I don't work in the nursing department so I don't have the exact numbers, but something like 20 residents have respiratory symptoms and/or fever and around 10 have tested positive for the virus.  But that's the thing, the test they uses doesn't actually work very well, there is a very high rate of false negatives, so most likely everyone who is sick has the coronavirus.  Half have corona and half have some unknown respiratory illness and both started at the same time?  That makes no sense.

I think I might have had the virus myself, I just had this feeling of low energy and generally not feeling so good for over a week and then for about 4 days I completely lost my appetite and anytime I tried to eat I felt like I was going to puke.  I never had a fever or cough though, so technically I was "asymptomatic".  I had a few days off work and felt better, now I'm back to normal.  I couldn't have gotten tested if I wanted to, the whole test thing is a big joke.

Just for comparison, four years ago we had a flu outbreak at the same nursing home and 10 residents died.  This corona thing is a fucking joke.  They need to end the shutdowns as soon as possible because this is a waste of time and money.
